Welcome to Schull Community Inshore Rescue Service

Schull Community Inshore Rescue Service (SCIRS) is a voluntary rescue organisation that has successfully grown from an idea to a fully recognised facility. We have built the boat house, bought the boat, trained the crew and received accreditation from the Irish Coast Guard and Irish Water Safety.

Capital expenditure to date is in the region of €270,000 which has been made possible thanks to our current members, generous donations, fund-raising efforts and a bank loan. There has been no government grant given to the project.

We need your support to enable the day to day running of the service to be maintained (around €20,000 per annum) and to pay off the remainder of the bank loan (just over €80,000).

Part of our on-going fund raising is to invite people to become members of SCIRS. The cost of membership is €75. Please forward your membership cheque/donation to Stephen O’Keeffe, SCIRS, 48 Main Street, Schull, Co. Cork. Don’t forget to include your name and contact details so we can send you your 2009 car sticker. Please renew your membership and encourage others to join.

Thank you for your support.

If you need assistance dial 112 or 999 and ask for the COASTGUARD.
